August 1, 2018
Wrenbridge are, once again, hosting their infamous World Cup at Linton College Sports Club in aid of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust on 3rd August. 25 teams have signed up and are now in training for the competition. The event is in its 13th year and so far Wrenbridge have already raised a huge £5,200 for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and will hopefully go on to raise some more in the lead up to the tournament.
Palmer Capital have entered a team into the competition for the first time, so only time will tell whether the selected few have the skill to pull us through to victory. The tournament will see each team taking part in the group stages with the top 2 scorers in each group securing their place in the quarter finals, and through to the finals. Wrenbridge’s World Cup day is always highly commended with lots of fun and competitiveness to keep everyone going.
Wrenbridge’s focus for 2018 is on Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, and they will be hosting other charitable events throughout the year.
Good luck to each of the teams taking part in the World Cup – hopefully there will be less pushing and scuffing of the pitch unlike in some recent games *cough* Columbia…
