Instro Precision Ltd are looking forward to bringing new jobs to East Kent after being granted planning approval by Dover District Council for a new manufacturing plant at Discovery Park.
The move to Discovery Park follows an extensive search by the manufacturing company for a new home to meet growing demand for its products.
Instro Precision Ltd is among the world’s leading suppliers of electro-optic surveillance and tactical support equipment, but has outgrown its current base in Thanet.
The decision by Dover District Council to approve its new 4,230 sq m (45,531ft) commercial building will not only protect the jobs of more than 100 existing staff, but will pave the way for new job opportunities in the months ahead.
The company intends to begin construction of its new facility shortly, with the site expected to be production ready by the end of January 2017.
Bob Adams, Managing Director, Instro Precision, welcomed the decision, and looked forward to launching the next chapter of the company’s success at Discovery Park.
He said: “It is no secret that we have been looking for a new site and I am delighted that Dover District Council have backed our application for a new manufacturing building at Discovery Park.
“The decision not only provides the company with an opportunity to expand that isn’t possible at our existing facility, but sets the ball rolling for more jobs and more success for East Kent.”
Tim Ingleton, Head of Inward Investment, Dover District Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Instro Precision to the growing base of manufacturers in the Dover district, and as the first major manufacturing operation at Discovery Park.”
