Last week, Barnet Borough Council unanimously granted planning permission for Wrenbridge Land & Palmer Capital’s mixed use scheme that will deliver the largest housing development Chipping Barnet town centre has seen for many years. The scheme has been funded by the £200m Palmer between Palmer Capital and CBRE Global Investment Partners.
The development of land at Brake Shear House presents a significant opportunity to deliver residential led, mixed used development on a complex town centre site in Chipping Barnet. The site lies to the north east of the borough, opposite the recently redeveloped Spires Shopping Centre.
Currently occupied by a variety of commercial uses and long established employment land, the scheme will transform the area and ensure long term vitality and viability by delivering new employment space, alongside 8 houses and 32 apartments (8 of which are affordable).
Jeff Wilson, Director at Wrenbridge added “We are delighted with the unanimous vote in favour of the scheme. The site sits in an excellent location within the Town Centre and will create a vibrant place to live and work in an attractive location within easy reach of Central London.”
Chris Button, Director at Palmer Capital, commented “This scheme fitted perfectly within the current portfolio of assets within the Palmer Capital Development Fund III. This site sits within a prime position in Barnet and will support the local community by providing much needed residential accommodation. We are actively looking for similar sites with a bias for brownfield sites located in or around cities across the UK”
