Gavin Bridge, Director of Bristol-based Cubex Land has recently laid out some of his thoughts on the benefits of using social media in the property and construction sector.
“Hello. Not sure how many working in property and construction use Twitter for Business and Instagram for Business but if you do then by all means say hello. If you don’t then why not give it a go?
I have found Twitter to be really helpful in engaging more widely and explaining the development process holding the view that it’s really important for developers to be accountable and visible, not being anonymous and hiding behind a press release.
The development industry largely has a terrible reputation, particularly in the housing sector, so it’s important to confidently promote the work the industry is doing and explain why we are doing it.
By using Twitter and Instagram I also hope, in my small way, to show those who have not thought about a career in property or regeneration that it really can be a rewarding, challenging and creative career. We particular need those who have historically thought that its not for the ‘likes of them’ A diverse more balanced funding and development sector is key to building the communities we desperately need in the 21st Century. Perhaps using social media in property is one way?
