The Fiera Steps Up charity campaign has launched! This year, we have partnered with the Charlie Waller Trust who is dedicated to help improve young people’s mental health and wellbeing. The Charlie Waller charity was founded in response to the tragic death of Charlie in September 1997. Charlie had everything to live for but suffered from depression and tragically took his own life. It is the charities mission to open up the conversation around depression, to ensure that young people are able to understand and look after their own mental health.
We are hoping to raise £50,000 for the trust to help provide either:
- 15,000 mental health webinars for parents & carers. The webinars explore practical, evidence-based strategies for maintaining positive mental health on a wide range of topics including eating disorders, suicide and anxiety
- 4,000 training sessions for teachers & lecturers in schools & colleges. Through the Charlie Waller education programme, the charity was able to reach over 20,000 teaching staff and parents last year.
- or 1,000 workshop courses for parents supporting young people with specific issues such as eating disorders.
Our main fundraising event will take place on Thursday 20 June in London. We are targeting a collective 1.5 million steps across an 8km walk through London, with the walk concluding at a pub for drinks. We would love as many of you as possible to join our walk along the Thames, starting at 2pm but we are happy for separate teams to be organised whether it be walking, running or cycling outside of London if preferred.
