Fiera Real Estate UK (“FRE UK” or “the Firm”) is proud to announce that is has received two shortlisting’s at this year’s Property Awards.
The first is for Property Fund Manager of the Year, following the Firm’s stellar year for fundraising, ESG and its unique Operating Partner network. One of FRE UK’s major successes was the final closing of its largest value add fund to date, with £180m of equity from UK, US & Canadian LP’s, showcasing the return of international capital to the market. The Firm also raised c. £70m for its Long Income Fund with increased appetite from both DB Pension schemes and Canadian HNWI’s.
FRE UK successfully deployed this capital through its unique pan-UK operating network of eight property companies, providing the Firm with access to local knowledge in key regions and extensive access to deal flow, completing on £257m of acquisitions and £328m of disposals across the course of the year. Throughout 2021, the FRE UK network delivered 3.5m sq. ft of logistics/industrial space* and developed/achieved consent for 720 residential units.
2021 also marked a key milestone in regard to ESG, achieving green star status on all live funds with FREOFIV receiving the highest score in its peer group, outperforming all other Northern European diversified, non-listed funds. The Firm successfully removed 110% of its Carbon Footprint via the Kasigau Corridor project, which protects an expanse of over 200,000 hectares of dryland Acacia-Commiphora forest, home to over 2,000 elephants, and provides social programmes whose impact reaches over 116,000 people. The project supports and aligns to the Firm’s commitments to the SDGs.
FRE UK’s second award shortlisting is for the Climate Crisis of the Year title, alongside Operating Partner, Cubex, for the BREEAM Outstanding Halo scheme in Bristol. When complete, Halo is set to be one of Bristol’s most innovative buildings. In order to achieve the BREEAM Outstanding accreditation for ‘Shell and Core’ and ‘Cat A Fit Out’, Halo had to meet the toughest new sustainability criteria and, in doing so, scored a record beating 90.3% and 87.4% respectively. This combined score is the second-best score to be awarded in the UK to date, and the first development outside of London to achieve it.
