Over the past 10 years, Manse has obtained planning permission for more than 2,200 new homes in Scotland and the North East of England. To add to this, it is currently developing a business park in the UK which has capacity of circa 2.3 million sq ft, alongside Opus Land, which they have collectively won three awards for and been shortlisted for four more. Manse was formed in 2009 between David Mitchell, Manse Managing Director and Palmer Capital, the UK focused real estate investment management company which is 80% owned by Fiera Capital. The company specialises in land promotion, development, investment and asset management (of predominantly commercial property) throughout the UK, with specific knowledge of Scotland and the North of England. During Manse’s 10 years in the industry, the company has worked on some fantastic projects, starting with a former paper mill in Aberdeen, which received planning permission for 900 residential units. In recent years, Manse teamed up with Opus Land to form Manse Opus. The company was formed to promote and develop redundant land belonging to Rolls-Royce. Manse Opus intend to create a new manufacturing hub on the 200-acre site, known as Prospero Ansty. The site is adjacent to the already successful Ansty Business Park, who have occupiers such as Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), London Taxis, Sainsbury’s and Fanuc. Prospero Ansty has capacity for 2.3 million sq ft of accommodation. In Spring 2018, Manse Opus secured planning consent for a 490,000 sq ft new headquarters building for Meggitt PLC, which was the first pre-let on the advanced manufacturing, research and office development site. Since development has started at the site, Prospero, Ansty has won Deal of the Year at the Co-Star Awards 2019; Property Deal of the Year at the 2018 West Midlands Property Awards and most recently, IAS Awards 2019 Deal of the Year over 250,000 sq. ft. Manse Opus have also been shortlisted for PROPS Awards Deal of the Year 2019; Property Week Awards Deal of the Year 2019; EG Awards 2019 Regional Deal of the Year Award and FirstPro Coventry and Warwickshire awards Deal of the Year 2019.
David Mitchell, Managing Director at Manse said: ‘When we started in 2009, the economy and property market were in a poor condition. I am hugely grateful to Palmer Capital for asking me to form a partnership with them. It is something that neither of us have reason to regret, because the business has gone from strength to strength. We have some exciting projects at the moment, but are very keen to explore new opportunities.’
Ray Palmer, Chairman at Palmer Capital said: “Palmer Capital was delighted to go into partnership with David Mitchell in 2009 to form Manse. This gave us a Scottish based property company which has been very successful ever since. Importantly for us it has been profitable, enjoyable and we are in partnership with someone where there is a very high level of mutual trust and respect, essential ingredients from our point of view. David Mitchell/Manse have been a really good investment for us and we look forward to working with them via the continuing success of this partnership.”
