Bristol is home to a number of cracking street food markets from ST Nicks to the bi-weekly Temple Quay fiesta.
But there’s always room for one more, and the latest to be announced will interest local historians and beer enthusiasts as well as foodies.
For one night only, the disused Fermentation Building at Finzels Reach will open up to become a food market, complete with some of the finest street food traders in the South West.
Not normally open to the public, the Fermentation Building, which used to be a Courage brewery, has not been occupied for many years and is an impressive example of the rich brewing history at Finzels Reach.
The impressive building, located over the bridge from Castle Park, will soon become a new hub for Left Handed Giant’s brewery and Michelin star restaurant Casamia, but before the development begins it will host this one-off food market.
Of course, the striking design of the building is one reason to visit the Feast at Finzels market, but arguably the most important feature is the food and it more than delivers in that department.
Foodies can expect to feast on a diverse selection of street food including crispy chicken wings from Gurt Wings, Alpine style mac & cheese from Alp Mac, Philly cheesesteaks from NYC Eats, slow smoked beef short rib and pork belly from Low ‘n’ Slow, Thai curry from Niangs Thai Snacks, BBQ jackfruit gyros from The Smoked Vegan, chocolate brownies from The Kitchen Chef and much more.
Beer will be supplied by local brewery Left Handed Giant who will soon open a brew pub in the Compressor Building at Finzels Reach, while Espensen Spirit will be on hand rustling up delicious cocktails using a range of their own naturally infused gins and vodkas.
Event organiser Sophie Bowden, who also runs the successful Finzels Reach street food market every Friday, said: “There’s been much discussion in the food industry around the demand for more indoor industrial spaces to be used for exciting street food events in the city.
“We’re delighted to be given kind permission from Cubex to use the stunning Fermentation Building just days before the building is developed.”
The market takes place between 5pm-10pm on Friday, July 13. For more information and updates on traders, visit its Facebook page here.
